SINCE 1716

Osaka’s oldest sake brewery.
Handcrafted tradition, refined by innovation.

Naniwa Shuzo was founded in 1716 and has continued brewing sake in Hannan, Osaka for more than 300 years. As Osaka’s oldest sake brewery, we carry forward the heritage of our historic wooden brewery, registered as a Tangible Cultural Property, while using the clear underground water that flows from the Izumi Mountains.

We do not pursue efficiency alone. Our sake is still made with careful handcraftsmanship passed down through the Nanbu Toji tradition. At the same time, we use AI analysis to better understand and reproduce the precision of our traditional techniques, creating sake where history and modern intelligence meet in every bottle.

The Art of Sake Brewing

水

Clear Underground Water
from the Izumi Mountains

The clean, refined taste of Naniwa Masamune begins with underground water from the Izumi Mountains, drawn from our own well since the brewery’s founding. Naturally filtered through the land, this mineral-rich water shapes the elegant character of our sake.

Nanbu Toji Craftsmanship
Handwork Enhanced by AI

In an age of efficiency, we continue to value careful handcraftsmanship. The intuition and skill of the Nanbu Toji tradition are combined with modern AI analysis, helping us reproduce delicate techniques with greater precision while preserving what only human hands can create.

Q & A

Frequently Asked Questions

Does sake have an expiration date?
How should I store it after opening?
Sake does not have a strict expiration date, but for the best flavor, we recommend enjoying it within about one year from the production date, or within about six months for unpasteurized nama sake. After opening, keep the bottle upright in a refrigerator or another cool, dark place and enjoy it within one to two weeks.
Can I join a brewery tour without a reservation?
Is parking available?
Brewery tours require advance reservations. To ensure that our staff can guide you properly, please book in advance by phone or through our reservation site.

A free parking lot is available across from the brewery, with space for one large bus and seven passenger cars.
Do you offer gift wrapping
and noshi labels?
Yes. At our direct brewery store and online shop, we offer gift boxes, wrapping, and noshi labels, including name printing. Please feel free to request them for seasonal gifts, celebrations, and other special occasions.
